It’s not strictly illegal to drive on kratom, as far as I know. I suspect this is the case for most countries. I have no doubt it could be detected in somebody’s system, but no one seems to specifically test for it, nor do there appear to be any laws strictly related to kratom intoxication.

I’ve driven plenty of times on kratom with no issue. It’s similar to driving with a low dose pain killer in your system, assuming you’ve been on said painkiller for a bit and have built up some tolerance.
The effects of kratom for most tend to be mild and more related to one’s emotional state of mind rather than their sensory consciousness. At low doses you most likely won’t experience double vision, vertigo, delayed thinking or reduced reaction time; just improved mood, energy, pain relief and modestly reduced anxiety. Kratoms mechanism of action is completely different from pot and alcohol. As a result, kratom’s effects are markedly divergent.
What’s important to remember though is one’s reactions to kratom is dose dependent. Though it’s potency is considerably less compared to an opioid like morphin, kratom’s effects are accumulative with intake.
As you reach higher doses you can begin to experience respiratory depression, intense somnolence, palpitations, significant disinhibition and nausea. Driving under this level of influence is extremely dangerous and reckless. Your reaction time and cognitive processing is profoundly hindered and you may be incapable of remaining conscious, or begin nodding off repeatedly. While most people won’t feel compelled to get behind the wheel in this state, it’s important that we all do our best to ensure no one does. The moment there’s one accident, over reacting laws get passed that make life difficult for everyone using kratom.
Driving on kratom is perfectly safe at responsible doses. And by safe, I mean there is literally no increased risk so long as you’re at a dose you can handle. If you’re feeling groggy, wait for the effects to lessen. Lets keep kratom use as legal as we can.
