Non Official Director On RBI Central Board

The Central Government has nominated Shri Anand Mahindra, Shri Venu Srinivasan, Shri Pankaj Patel, and Shri Ravindra Dholakia as part-time non-official Directors on the Central Board of RBI, for a period of 4 years with effect from 14th June, 2022 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The central board is the highest decision-making body of the apex bank headed by the RBI Governor. The central board of the RBI comprises official directors, which include the governor and 4 deputy governors. The government appoints 10 non-official directors, two directors are government officials while four directors are appointed from each of the four local boards.

Anand Mahindra is the chairman of the Mahindra Group, the non-executive chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra and Tech Mahindra. Venu Srinivasan is chairman emeritus of two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Company. Pankaj Patel is chairman and managing director of Zydus Lifesciences while Ravindra Dholakia is the former member of the Monetary Policy Committee. With this appointments, central board now consists of five official members and 10 non-official members.
